Australian movies for me are usually not worthy of the box office to me. However I was so thrilled & entranced by this movie I forgot it didn't come straight out of Hollywood.
Eric Bana (by choice) seemingly chooses to fly under the radar as one of the most outstanding Australian actor's of today. He chooses his films & character's wisely & doesn't buy in to the quest for fame & fortune. He simply is a FIFO actor who fly's in, gets the !@#$ out.
For this reason you'll never find him in a box office flop. He is right up there with Heath Ledger in my book. He plays intense characters remarkably well, incredible to think he went from a very successful comedy career to this. Seemingly excels at anything he dedicates himself to.
That being said the remainder of the cast, director & solid storyline deserves equally as much credit.
I don't bother heading to the box office much anymore as I'm a tough critic & am usually disappointed by those movies everybody watches & the world seems obsessed by.
The best movie experiences to me are those surprises, where you knew it was going to be good BUT actually it was even better than expected. This one definitely fits into that category.
For an Australian made film it deserves 5 stars. A must watch & I would even watch it again. Which in itself says a lot for me.
