I can say that I was absolutely delighted by this film. It was written and directed by a German artists Percy and Eleonore Adlon and is a touching and slightly enigmatic film with outstanding music and flare. Marianne Sägebrecht, CCH Pounder, and Jack Palance are in top form in this tour de force, as are most of the other actors. This is a deeply thoughtful film that enhances rather than distracts from the characters' emotional involvement breaking down silly stereotypes of culture, sex, race, age, and race interactions. One of the songs in this film (I Am Calling You) that is masterfully sung by Jevetta Steele is extremely haunting and encapsulates the topography and mood of the Bagdad Cafe. This is a somewhat dated film that you shouldn't miss.
