After a second viewing, I can confirm that this film is a masterpiece. Joaquin Phoenix's performance is absolutely incredible and is definitely oscar-worthy. The film has some amazing cinematography and a great soundtrack from Hildur Guðnadóttir. Director Todd Phillips has also done a great job as well despite me not being a fan of some of his previous films. Just about everything in this film is top-notch and will completely encapsulate you in this story of a man disregarded by society. The film does borrow a lot from some Scorsese films but if you're going to borrow something at least they borrowed from the best. Don't listen to those critics who say this film is dangerous because it just isn't. This film is no more dangerous than something like American Psyco or Taxi Driver. This movie is amazing and I cannot wait to see it again. 10/10
