Overall a good summary of the origins of dance music but I would have preferred a series of shorter films focusing on different periods, in trying to fit everything thing in the one film so much that had been potent to me in my experience of the 90s rave scene and beyond was missed out on or hurried over... I know you can't please everyone but where was mention of The Prodigy, Orbital, and the trip-hop bands, drum and bass... I would have loved a bit of exploration into how it's created off shoot scenes across the world like the Goa scene, Portugal's Boom, Ozura and the other psychedelic trance festivals and the free parties and free festivals still happening now which are much more like the old school raves happening in the fields. It all got a bit too clean and commercialised as I know things have overall...I guess I just wanted to see more of my scene rather than what the pretty kids are doing now!
Anyway besides that Martin Garrix came across as a nice lad with a genuine drive and Carl Cox is just a bloody lovely bloke, his part in this documentary carried my interest through much of it.
