this is one of the best movies I’ve seen in years and it reminded me of how movies should be made and how much I used to enjoy movies as art. Everything about the movie is just first-rate, the costumes the story and in particular the acting. Guy Pearce as always is superb. so is the rest of the cast. Other viewers commented that every word in the movie must be listened to carefully and they are correct this is a complex story with a complex backstory involving the captain who initially was put in charge of investigating the artist for collaborating with the Nazis and ends up being his defender in court. I don’t want to ruin it for viewers but you believe the movie ends only to realize things are not exactly as they seem. It is a perfect reflection of real life. Our motives are often complex as is the outcome. Bravo to the Director the cast and everyone who was involved in the making of this film. it was brilliant!
