Very disappointed. I don't recommend this movie. Nothing to do with Jane Austen. The lead character was extremely unlikable and so were the men in her life. Waste of time and money. Steer clear of this one!

Watched this today in Kolkata, thinking it would be a new version of the earlier movie "Two States". But this was only the North Indian gaze on South India...not balanced and respectful both ways like the earlier movie. Exaggerated stereotypes of southern culture that was made to look strange and overdone. They should have found a real Kerala girl to play Sundari. Honestly, I wanted to leave after five minutes but my INOX recliner seat was comfy and it cost me more than ₹860, so I decided to stick it out till near the end, only for sunk cost reasons! Like I was renting the seat instead of watching the rubbish on the screen. Did not care a bit about the movie and storyline!

Did not work for me. I'm normally a huge fan of Irrfan (may he rest in peace🙏🏽), but this movie was difficult for me to keep watching to the end--became very boring. Two of the three ex-es that he went to visit, looked like European women. His character doesn't speak English at all in the movie. What would these foreign women have seen in a home-boy like him? It's more of a travel advertisement for tourist places and hotels. The story is not believable at all. He looks much too old for her. Not believable.

Absolutely detested this movie, unfortunately my first movie theater experience after 18 months! So frustrating. I wanted to leave many times but the small theater was crowded and I didn't want to step over others so I gritted my teeth and just waited for it to end. I could not IMAGINE how it received an Oscar for best movie. The characters were all unattractive, especially the main character who resembles a man and I found her hard to recognise each time. Terrible waste of time and money

Interesting movie because the storyline was unpredictable. But ultimately it was not adventurous enough. I thought one of the male characters would come out as gay near the end, but he didn't. Insisting that the husband was always faithful to his wife was also less than believable. A good effort for sure, and a very original storyline around a young widow who asks for pepsi and chips--loved that part! This story could have done more

I watched it today to pay my respects to the late Irfan Khan. I am a big fan of his. But this movie was a total disaster. It's unfunny, the characters are like cartoons (except Irfan) and the situations are totally cringe-worthy...like awful stereotypes of how Indians behave in London. Nothing like Hindi Medium, which was a very clever and subtle movie. This is slapstick. All the worst suspicions people have about Indians, are proudly displayed as plot lines here, and are not in the least bit funny. Rest in Peace Irfan-ji🙏🏽 This movie was WAY BELOW EXPECTATIONS
