I wanted to watch this as Lara Jean (the main character in the movie, "To All The Boys I've Loved Before") said this was her favourite movie and many people have said it is a cult classic.
HOWEVER, this movie is disturbing. There are HUGE issues when it comes to casual racism and consent for sexual conduct.
One of the geek kids affectedly has sex with an unconscious/really really drunk girl and the movie expects us to forgive this because the next movie she said she enjoyed it. Like NO
also how can anyone like Jake as a suitable person for Sam when he traded his drunk girlfriend for a pair of Sam's underwear. Sure he apologized afterwards but honestly still not ok. Like you trashed my house so I decided to let send you off with a guy I didn't know. Jake also made a very disturbing comment about his girlfriend to the geek kid........
Then here's Long Duk Dong. This movie just uses every stereotype in the book for him. Also why would Lara Jean an asian herself have this movie as her favourite when she sees how they treat Long as a character? Bit weird.
OVERALL. This movie did not stand the test of time. It is not acceptable in today's society. Honestly it shows you how messed up the 80's were
