I don't think I have ever written a review for TV show or movie before, but I truly felt like I needed to for this one. This show was phenomenally realistic. I truly appreciate that they clearly made such a great effort to represent the Haitian family and they absolutely succeeded. I am Haitian and I have never seen a Haitian character portrayed as realistically and positively as Grand Army portrayed that family. I always see negative portrayal of my culture and my language, so I will forever be grateful that this show did such an amazing job. It portrayed the good and the bad of a Haitian family dynamic. Every time that family was on screen, I felt a connection.
Beyond the Haitian portrayal, the show did an amazing job with so many heavy topics that we all know so well. I felt like I could identify even with many of the characters in some level or another. All emotions were raw and oh so real. I have watched many teen dramas and this was the most realistic portrayal yet. Thank you for the experience Grand Army!
