in school we for A levels studied TESS OF THE D URBERVILLES in our literature class in 1978 and i watched the movie in 1980. the THOMAS HARDY novel and movie directed by ROMAN POLINSKY have since then been etched in my mind. It shows how one event leads to another without us being in control of our destinies. these destiny can either be tragic or fulfilling.In tesses case it ended in tragedy.
