Yoga at home with Stephanie

As a huge fan of the book, this show was a huge disappointment. I understand needing to make SOME changes to adapt to tv, but they changed the entire story, everything except the names and the premise. The beauty of making a book into a tv series is you have the ability and time to stay true to the book, unlike a movie where you have to squeeze whole book into 2 hours. The show was boring and slow.

My poor opinion has nothing to do with comparing this movie to the favored originals. They did not spend enough time on the character Max. He did not show a single redeeming quality throughout the whole movie until the very end. He was not endearing or fun to watch in any way. From making us think he stole from a down & out family to him trying to take toys meant for less fortunate kids. I just kept thinking "this kid is the worst". They did however spend much time making us empathize with the "robbers" who were really just a down on their luck couple trying to get back what was stolen from them. After feeling bad for them, the devious traps that Max sets for them do not come across as funny, but cruel to this couple that have already had all this bad luck happen to them. I did appreciate seeing Buzz McCallister as the cop and the couple of nods to the original classics that do possess that perfect balance of comedy and heart.
