seems like a lot of mixed reviews on this film, but personally it turned out to be one of my favorites, especially by this director. beautiful cinematography, a story that doesn’t drag on, likeable characters, and a few hidden messages. it has sections of tense action, awe-inspiring visuals, and also a couple good laughs. it seems like most reviewers were either expecting a full analysis of society with unending metaphors and takes on our cultural life as humans, or (on the opposite end of the spectrum) refuse to simply accept watching a film as an “experience” and wanted definitive answers, not understanding the little (obvious) symbolism there was. either way, I thoroughly enjoyed the film and thought it was extremely unique until the end. this was definitely a film that was “ruined” by it’s own viewers’ expectations and is enjoyable to watch whether you want to look further into it or not.

Unless you’re an art student or enjoy being irritated knowing you’re wasting your time on a realistic portrayal of what life is like as a crackhead with no motivation, this movie drags on and leads nowhere. I understand not all film needs to be dramatic and have a climactic ending, but I was surprised by how many 5 star reviews this film had. Some people will enjoy, I personally did not.

unique and amazing cinematography, terrible music choices, and a story that hasn’t been done before. a decent experience with great gore. 3/5

Didn’t come to see a movie about metaphores, I came to see a movie that seemed to have a different take on horror. Instead, I got an over-hyped, repetitive, long winded, and frankly boring film. Shame because I loved Get Out, and I love Peele.
