I’ve been a fan of Norma Jean since 2004, when I was 12 years old and heard Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste from their 2002 debut LP. I listened to them most during 2005-2008 and then kind of fell off for a while, only listening to them here and there usually a song or two off a new album but still always played their early music. I got back into them in a huge way in the leading up to All Hail, a classic to me. I was stoked to hear Deathrattle Sing For Me when it was announced and was utterly let down when I first heard popped in the CD I got from their site in the mail. Took a few listens and now I think it’s incredible. I’ve gone back since 2018 and listened to their full discography many times in full and they’re all 4 and 5 star albums. If google would let me rate this a 4.5 star I would. It’s not their greatest but they are still putting out stuff that puts nearly all other metalcore to absolute shame. If you’re an OG fan of them, don’t give up on this album! Especially if you like the direction they took on All Hail. It’s a worthy follow-up.
