I thought this was an old movie at first. Set in the 1960's, the scenes looked authentically old and I wasn't too interested until I saw Tony Lip drop water glasses into the garbage can because two black men had drunk from them. From that point on, I started paying attention and enjoyed the nuances of different aspects of racism. The story is sweet and reminded me of Driving Miss Daisy. I found myself cheering for both Doctor Shirley and Tony to learn and grow from each other and their experiences while on the road. Highly recommend this movie.
