Pros
1) Exceptional acting by Vicky Kaushal who doesn't even once go out of character.
2) Wonderfully directed by Meghna Gulzar who just infuses the right amount of patriotism needed in such a biopic
3) Brilliant production design & cinematography which transports us to an unseen era of Indian history
Cons
1) Every scene is dedicated towards the character building of Sam Manekshaw, which at times gets too much. He makes the right choices, gets things done his way, shuts people up with his wit, people are in constant awe of him, etc Experiencing this for over 2 hours might get tiring. Things should've been little toned down and subtle.
2) Various chapters in history end abruptly and the next begins, without the audience getting the time to feel the joy/sorrow of the previous one. Better writing was expected.
3) Weak portrayal of Indira Gandhi doesn't go with the image that she carries.
4) Rushed depiction of '71 war giving the feel of a documentary rather than a motion picture.
Overall a good watch to experience those chapters of Indian history which the current generation might be unaware of backed by superb performance from Vicky Kaushal.
