If you are a fan of the first game there is a strong chance you will despise this one... SPOILERS... The death of joel goes against his character built from the story of the first.. he trusted no one.. always cautious... immediately saves a stranger and accepts an invitation to meet more strangers and reveals his identity... DEAD.. then ellie has a vengeful quest which is interrupted by a lengthy portion of playing as the person who killed joel!!! Completely unlikable for myself.. they spend a good portion trying to make you the player sympathize with her and understand her motivations.. which did not work for me... I could not stand playing half the game as her... then ellie finally gets her chance and decides to show mercy... again out of character... the story is complete nonsense and is the equivalent of killing tony stark in the first avengers movie.. completely idiotic... the visuals are stunning.. but that's it... gameplay not really improved upon from the first considering the 7 year difference... Joel made the last of us great a broken man with a shot at redemption.. fulfillment.. choses to replace the irreplaceable at the cost of mankind's future.. a decision I would have made myself.. ellie who has also lost everything.. until joel... that chemistry is what made the first one great.. it should have been built upon even further.. half ass writing and shock value in an attempt to out perform the first has destroyed this series... not to mention the complete lack of character building for support cast and the game of thrones season 8 execution of most of them.. this game did not inspire empathy for any character in the game aside from ellie.. which was already built in the first game.. this game desperately needs a rewrite for any sort of salvation.. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
