2K21 is nothing more than a stripped down version of 2K20 with a complicated shot meter. Sure they added a few more frames per second and a couple of new animations, but fun level that we've been missing for the past few years is still missing. Covid-19 has definitely had a major impact on every aspect of life and the gaming industry is no exception. With the presentation also suffering in this years' installment, it leaves a sour taste in your mouth(it's like being forced to eat black licorice). However I can't help but feel like they could have still gotten Shaq, Erie and Kenny together to do something fresh and new, even in the midst of the pandemic. Especially since they were able to bring everyone together to film the mycareer story. The new 2K Beach also leaves something to be desired. The new arcade in my opinion could definitely be bigger! Having to wait for open space to get your daily spin is absolutely ridiculous! Lastly I've never been an advocate for the whole archetype thing since its inception. One because 2K doesn't allow you to truly build a realistic player. Sharpshooters barley miss, biggs don't have true athleticism and slashers don't even have a solid mid-range game. Which is sad because realistically there are plenty of players in the league who are slashers and they have a decent to solid mid-range game. Not to mention the countless players who put in work to add to their game. 2K is slowly becoming like EA sports are with their Madden franchise due to lack of competition. They've gotten comfortable and don't try to push the envelope anymore.
