I have played most if not all Pokémon games and their spin offs. I love Pokémon, I like the series but this remake just feels hollow to other games. I was ok with the chibi art style at first but as some people pointed out there are big events in the game that become kiddish and less impressive with the art style. I don't mind the exp. share always being on. I like it if I don't want to be too over level I just skip battles so that's not an issue. However, one issue I would like to bring up is the cherry picking in this game. You don't add newer Pokémon but you keep newer moves and add the fairy type. It baffles me that you pick one but not the other. If you are going to do a 1:1 remake then do that but don't cherry pick the way this game was made. The fact that the elite 4 and champion have the platinum teams but its locked behind the post game is aggravating. It shows that you can improve in a remake but instead of making it so this remake just falls so short of what it could have been. Speaking of the elite 4 and champion that is another issue I have. Many applaud the toughness of them and I would agree if it wasn't for the fact that in the pre game they are ev and iv trained with competitive nature's, moves, and items. I play Pokémon to have fun. The competitive scene is a small niche that some people play in. And that's fine for those that play that way...but for those if us that just play Pokémon to play and have fun or to just collect Pokémon this elite 4 was way too hard and unfair. I could understand doing this as a post game feature...barely. I feel at this point if you want things to be this hard then add a level setting with a competitive setting for those that want it. Lastly, I do love the new underground and the different areas they added. However, I do not like that they hid certain Pokémon behind in game events like getting a badge. I feel that if the Pokémon was in the dex then it should have been catchable from the beginning. For example Mantkye is only obtained after sunnyshore city. In the underground you only get it after getting the tm for waterfall. Both of these are at the end of the game. So If you want to use Mantine you have to go through the whole game without one. This game just could have been a shining star but all we have gotten is a shining blade in our back.
