This is a beautiful film. I think films about children that depict the fact that kids face challenges that impact their adult lives are important. It is challenging to make such films, but I think those, such as this one, that are well done, touch our humanity. And this film does it beautifully. The two young leads are simply amazing. I loved it. I should add that I think films are important. And I love films. I don’t try to find the errors in films but tryto find the beauty. I recommend that approach.

The story is well crafted and avoids being overly sentimental. However it is the acting of Michael Keaton that is the most outstanding aspect of the film. This is the role of his career, and is a true tour de force. The film is a portrayal of how difficult life can be even for those who try to do what’s right. It is yet another example of how we are benefiting from the improved opportunities for women in cinema. They have stories to tell snd maybe, in time, men will even start listening.

It is a wonderful film, fully worthy of two creative forces in film, Payne and Giamatti. While the structure is not unfamiliar, it’s twists and turns are human and unpredictable. Despite the challenges, excellent films are being produced. This is certainly among the best.

Wes Anderson is always entertaining and always has something to say. His films are complex, that is true, and often confusing, but his films are about life and he refuses to dumb down his films. The same is true of Asteroid City. It is well worth the effort.

Sandra Ih is wonderful, as usual. The series raises many of the issues that challenge college campuses and society in general. Very worth watching.
