To be honest when I went to watch it, I didn't have much expectations but what interested me was the cast and the fact that it was about actions based movie that involves ninjas. However, what I saw lacked depth. It was a predictable story but even with that it could've been something more. Except it wasn't. It lacked the beauty of Japan which should have been more explored, the characters themselves lacked meanings. There are things which could've been emphasized and left an impression. Movies used to be able to teach people something and leave them wandering in awe and amazement. This would have left such impression too if it had been written and staged differently. There are great actors and actresses in here with characters which could've been more developed. I'm just sad of how it could've been more different if only it had been written and directed more differently. Staging is very different, I understand by how this was directed that they have not fully considered emphasising the characters, especially the main character himself. Which I feel is the greatest mistake any movie can ever make. These 2 stars are from much consideration thanks to the beautiful camera work and the staging as well as the actors/actresses playing the role as best as they could. And the fact that there was a sufficient amount of actions which I feel is what had helped to keep the movie moving.
