The movie was incredibly slow to get going. I really wanted to like Keke Palmer’s character and root for her, but I found her to be excruciatingly annoying. Why did she have such a strong southern dialect when clearly the movie took place in California? My movie going friends and I were very disappointed with the whole plot. We thought it would be way more scary. Really guys, they were running from a flying saucer??? I would not recommend anyone waste their money on seeing this in the theater. Jordan Peele can do way better than this. I guess it’s really hard to surpass Get Out though.

Very odd movie. Difficult to understand at times. Not Spike Lee’s best work.

Loved the premise of the movie. A good depiction of Black love in all its varied states. The chemistry between Issa Rae and Lakeith is palpable. I liked the flashback scenes that featured Louisiana locations. The soundtrack is fire!
