The bad reviews for Grandma’s Boy are just plain ... stupid... The story of the main character making his way through the early days of high res graphic games told with a comedic backdrop alone is surprisingly engaging - especially through the lens of 12 years passed. (Note the very noticeable lack of smart phones or social media references). This film is just on the cusp of the shift to the digital age... And is a stark reminder of how fast our world has changed in just over a decade. The individual performances are riotous. The comedic bits are classic. The kind of scenes and lines that if you watch more than once stick with you for years.. (drive monkey drive!!) and for me more than a decade. Grandma’s Boy is in the top tier of the Sandler/Happy Madison productions. Which has had it’s hits and misses. The lack of Sandler’s over the top character driven performance is what makes this movie stand out amongst the lesser options of the genre. Take a chance and watch it once.. Take my advice and watch it three times... you will never again forget the phrase “I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.”. Enjoy...
