Nothing is perfect but this is as close as it gets. This series defines “Nordic noir” at its best. Totally ridiculous story lines are made believable and compelling by intelligent and ironic writing, excellent acting, intricately constructed plots and easily empathetic characters. Sofia Helin as Saga Noren is a revelation! Years after first watching this I am still haunted by her performance. I have watched all episodes five times now and am still thrilled by them. I tried to watch the American/Mexican version, but couldn’t get through the first ten minutes Just seemed like a cheap imitation. Then there’s the British/French version (“the tunnel “) which is just another imitation. Just watch the original and revel in its near perfection.
