It's heart is in the right place but the script is simplistic, the characters are stereotypes, and there is no subtlety or complexity in the exploration of important issues. It is cartoonish. And Alex's accent is one of the worst attempts at an upper class English accent that my ears have ever had to endure.

This is an exciting reinvention which is political, mythical and mesmerising.

This is a quietly memorable film. It creates a poignant portrait of the relationship between the father snd son, and explores the reality of death without tipping over into sentimentality or melodrama. Norton is convincing in the central role, and it is impossible not to be deeply moved by the sensitivity he brings to a challenging role. A gem of a movie!
