Brilliant movie. The mislabeled genre adds to the very mind-game that the movie wanted to play with us. Riz Ahmed is a stunning actor. The kids were amazing in their portrayals too. We really need a lot of 5 stars here to pump the ratings up. This movie is truly a masterpiece. Even though halfway through the movie when the alien suspense is dissolved and the movie becomes mostly predictable thereon, it is still able to cast a strong grip on the viewer throughout only ‘cause of the impeccable acting that followed. (Octavia Spenser share a small screen time but man, she does it with such a finesse.)

A morbid, fresh, and modern take on the ancient 'beware-what-you-wish-for's. The visuals aka water-monsters were subtly scary, - giving a fresh kind of scare. Not sure why such bad reviews/ratings! If it's not a must watch, it's not a must not-watch either. (Got a little Shuttle Island chills though!)
