SPOILER WARNING
THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON 1 NORMAL CLEAR.
I was very excited to play this game and for the most part it was a amazing journey. I do have issues with some new added story elements that would have been better left out.
The scenes where the whisperers interfere and ruin it. I did not like their inclusion and ruin key scenes and I believe the game would of been better without out them.
The battle system can be turn base or action based depending on your settings choice. I chose to play it action based and it very fun. Switching characters and doing atb weapon combos.
The music is amazing. Remixes can be either a hit or miss with old fans like myself.
Backgrounds and the places you travel is very beautiful. I caught myself just touring and enjoying the view of the well crafted Midgar.
The side quests were few but entertaining. Never felt like a simple fetch quest and had characters interact like it was part of a side storyline.
Materia is still as grindy as ever to raise the level, which oddly enough helped make it feel like old ff7. Gain ap through battle to level materia.
Even though the game is beautiful, it renders textures late and ruins game immersion. Better to loading screens then to see a low resolution catch you off guard during important scenes.
There is also a bug during the vent crawling that if you peek to view optional side events, you cannot escape viewing it even though it says you can.
All the characters in battle feel very unique. Barret is a ranged character for the most of game, can turn him to a heavy melee late game. Tifa is a quick hit n run type. Cloud is like a counter wall. Aerith is the mage healer.
The game is very high quality and memorable journey but not perfect. Can't wait til I get to see the golden saucer in these graphics. For 60 dollars, the game is well worth the price point.
