All in all, it has style but lots of problems. Represents the main character's genius as partly drug-fueled, which is an irresponsible and tired trope. There are endless scenes of chess pieces being moved; the drama must be imagined by anyone other than a chess devotee. There is also depiction of an adult man grooming the underage female main character.
