I just finished watching the series and I didn't expect to be this attached to this show. Start-Up does not only center romance but it also promotes self-confidence, faith in yourself, and determination to reach your dreams. It is highly informative business-wise. As a fan of technology, I've learned a lot more in this industry. It has been a dream for me to work as a programmer or developer but you need to be a genius to be one (which I'm not lol). The SAMSAN tech boys' journey is very inspiring at the same time realistic.
The love story: I understand why a lot of people were rooting for the 2nd lead because he was Dalmi's, first love. It would have been so magical if they ended up together (in the fantasy world). For me, the love story was written perfectly. I understand why Dalmi and Ji-Pyeong weren't in the end game. In the first place, Ji-Pyeong was not as real as those in the letters. He created a persona that he wanted Dalmi to think he is. In those letters, he was gentle, warm, and easygoing, but in reality, he was rude (the way he talks esp. to Samsan boys), cold, and difficult. He may have written those letters but he is not the Ji-Pyeong that Dalmi fell in love with. On the other hand, Nam Do San is a kind-hearted man who chooses his words carefully. He knows how to comfort and show compassion to others. He is humble and soft. In reality, you would always choose a man who is Nam Do-San and not just the man you fell in love with through letters. First love does die especially if someone comes along is better.
The actors: I've first watched Nam Joo-Hyuk's acting skill in Weightlifting Fairy, he was indeed good and believably head over heels for Kim Bok Joo. He portrayed the role well and officially became my second favorite Oppa next to Song Joong Ki. While watching Start-Up, I totally forgot his character in Weightlifting Fairy. He impressively embodied Nam Do-San. His character is the hardest one to act. He showed different sides and emotions of Nam Do-San. Even his co-actors said his character was the most challenging one. He was unquestionably excellent. I believe Nam Do-San or Nam Joo-Hyuk was the star of this show.
It was my first time watching Suzy acts and yes, the role fits her, but for me, she still has a lot of roads to take to level the Prime actresses. She can act but not as skillful as the others.
Kim Seon-Ho is absolutely great. He is charming and a great actor.
A true critic would not base his/her judgment if his/her favorite actor ends up with the main actress. Understand the story first and analyze why it ended that way. Happy watching! :)
