Terrible movie. While, yes, the topic is very important and worth exploring, it felt contrived and flat due to melodramatic performances and poor direction. There were a few breakout moments from the investigative officer, but the other performances were one-note and predictable. There wasn’t a surprising tear or moment of anger in the entire film. Even the highlight of white male privilege was done poorly. It was absolutely not believable that an FBI agent would’ve gotten arrested in that situation and far less believable that he would’ve waited for and received information from a police officer. I knew in the first 10 minutes of the story how it would end. It would have been far more compelling for the initial officer to have experienced some sort of paradigm shift, but the audience didn’t get that either. Nothing was believable in this movie, it was over-acted, the storyline was under-developed, and it felt like a recorded play.
