“The Haunting of Bly Manor”:
Kids are weird, relationships are confusing, dynamics of the household are not what they seem, and memories are distorted. Pretty much like real life. “She woke, she walked, she slept”, my mantra, so nothing new there. And the whole “you, me, us’ is apparently just for thrillers and fairy tales, because in today’s world it’s more like me, me, me, oh and you. However, just like real life, you go through hours and hours (years and years) of this movie (of real life) to only get your questions answered at the very end. The only horror in this movie is in the terrors of remembering, doubting, loves, and losses. I give this a 3.5 star only because I felt the need to watch to the very end instead of stopping at episode 4, (don’t get me started on Ep. 4), so it had me somewhat entertained to watch all nine episodes. In conclusion, it was a “perfectly splendid” movie to binge-watch over the weekend that was wet, cold and gloomy.
