What a fine read. One of the best biographies I’ve read. Besides getting to know this fascinating man, the reader is transported to pre-industrial , pristine America with both it’s stunning beauty and hardships. 5 stars

I only watched the whole thing to see how it would end. It was embarrassingly bad. So much was just ridiculous, and not because of the age difference between the lovers. The way Julia behaves with her young boyfriend in front of her children, the clunky dialogue, the absurd wedding with Julia in a long satin wedding dress. At least the scenery was nice.
