I want to like this show...I wanted to LOVE this show. I was excited about the beautiful talented black cast and was happy to support by tuning in. But...nope...just no! The heavy weight, seasoned talents of Joe Morton, Morris Chestnut, Debbie Morgan and L. Scott Caldwell are well worth the time I've spent watching so far. Lance Gross is just beautiful to look at.
But Yaya DaCosta, even with her fabulous "giving me life" big, giant hair, is AWFUL! Her acting isn't natural and fluent. It seems forced and fake. I keep imagining all the other actresses they could have cast instead of her. Is she a producer or something on this show?? Sitting through her scenes is rough and she always sounds like she's got a stuffy nose. I'll hang in there as long as I can stand it, but I'm not hopeful.
Although I'm not a fan of Yaya in the leading role, I'm pulling for the show overall. The storyline feels rushed and like a soap opera, but even still, I'll try and support as long as I can stand listening to Yaya.
