“How do you think it feels for my son to pay me? How do you think that feels?”
Honey Boy is powerful. Powerful is exactly the word I would describe this movie. It’s strong and deep and has a sense of realism to it. The movie’s emotions are very pure and raw making this movie extremely unique. At times you forget you’re watching a movie and you feel like you entered someone’s memory and you were taken to their childhood. There is a lot to learn from Honey Boy. After the movie has finished you feel like you have gained something. Noah Jupe gives the best child performance I have ever seen. And Shia LeBouf is astounding. He deserves an Oscar. It’s really weird to think that Shia wrote this movie about his own life while he was in rehab. And that is why it connects with you and hits you on an emotional level. Because it’s so raw and real. You feel sorry for Otis but this movie also makes you empathise with Otis’s dad. Honey Boy isn’t a perfect movie, but it is something special. And at this point, we need more movies like Honey Boy,..
