I am still shocked by how utterly horrible this was for having come from such a strong legacy.
This movie spends too much time winking at itself. It seems to aim for a little more light hearted tone in places but just ends up being goofy and not in a good way.
Parts of it seem like it was shot with a cell phone camera. It feels clunky and not immersive. It has a low budget feel and the storytelling doesn't make up for it.
The pacing is weird. At times it moves so slowly I almost fall asleep. Other times it seems rushed like trying to cover multiple movies' plot in one. There are several things they don't even attempt to explain or show. Scenes seem to end in the middle with no resolution. Arbitrary.
The film demolishes some of the most iconic characters and replaces them with either ineffective or forgettable people.
At some point I realized I didn't care what happened in the story. The heroes were not likable, the villains were not threatening. Every character was a pawn in a very flimsy plot.
The ending didn't even touch on the effects of the events on other characters outside of the main ones.
The more I think about it, I keep coming up with more illogical and inconsistent things that just don't make sense. How much meth do you have to do to think this was a good idea?
I just can't understand how they could murder this franchise so thoroughly.
Plain and simple this movie was dumb and disappointing.
