Worst movie I’ve watched in a verrry long time. It was such a sad, drearily depressing take on middle age life, I can’t get it out of my head. I am a huge Julianne Moore fan, but wondered what possessed her to be a part of this dark, painfully BORING film?? I only watched it because at a certain point I realized it was so bad it was like watching a train wreck — I just had to see how bad it was (plus I was stuck on a plane and couldn’t walk out!). Everything was sooo disjointed — her friend gets fired and we never hear from her again? Why was she even in the film in the first place? She never went dancing with Gloria. Were they even truly friends? Instead of calling animal protection services when a weird hairless creepy cat (so ugly it made me want to throw up) keeps mysteriously getting into her place she finally breaks down and KEEPS it AND starts eating its food?! Wait, WHAAA?! 😳 There is zero chemistry between her and her dork of a Dr. Strangelove boyfriend! The love scenes — my eyes cannot unsee what they have seen and I am now scarred for life — all that pasty pale skin on pasty pale skin. Her adult loser of a son has been abandoned by his baby’s mama and I’m wondering why we should even care?! He’s a LOSER. I’d rather live in the desert too than be with him. In fact, everybody in this film was a loser and lived these bland below average loser lives that made me want to scream “DO SOMETHING, ANYTHING to better yourselves!” Was mediocrity the point? It’s been two days now and I am still scratching my head as to the purpose of this film being made. There are so many talented screen writers out there trying to get their project green lighted. WHY did THIS film make it?? Such an injustice. AND whoever categorized this as a “comedy” should be horsewhipped!!! I kept falling asleep and thought surely I missed something interesting. But alas, I did not. There was not ONE interesting moment or scene in this entire film. Her paint gun revenge at the end made at least 30 seconds of the 90 minutes bearable. Lastly, GLORIA CANNOT DANCE!!! Ugh. Awful. I want my money back and the movie was FREE on a long flight.
