Excellent plotting and dialogue avoids the cliches that are so common in crime thrillers. Everyone acting in top form. The dialogue was simply brilliant. Finally a movie that wasn’t stitched together by a marketing team.

An excellent story very well observed. Nothing heavy handed. The relationship between the two men is up front, the conflict is placed in the middle distance. Paddleton should be in every film school text book. Romano is brilliant and the story is about him completely. I usually stay away from this type of subject matter because I hate the way Hollywood treats it for tears. I'm not into sad or downer movies. Every time I choked up, immediately I was thrown a chuckle or a bit of wonder to keep me afloat. This is a movie for people who observe life in its details and appreciate the observations of others. Yes, an extremely well observed film. Some reviewers thought it was slow. These reviewers are only saying they have a short attention span.

2 hours and 22 minutes long. Felt like an hour and a half. Twists are placed like dynamite on bridge supports and then the boom. Surprisingly insightful without showing any effort to be so. Worth watching for Lewis Pullman alone, but everyone is excellent. Chris Hemsworth's bare chested swagger is hysterical and I believe that is the intention here. I love movies where nothing is as it seems and the plot continues to peel back layers.
