I saw this book on lots of top 10 whodunnit lists. So, I was very anxious to give it a read. I started off by not liking the main character, and that never changed. She was very high strung and unsympathetic throughout (she spends most of the book crying, snapping at other characters, being self critical, etc.). The mystery, itself, tried hard to be unsolvable, but isn’t all that baffling (I’m not professing to have figured out who the murderer was well in advance, but none of the mystery elements were unsolvable). The writing style was very good. The author does an excellent job of putting the reader in each setting. It’s just not a gripping tale with a main character with whom you can easily sympathize.
