For any academic who is thinking of using the Narrative approach, this is a 'must read' text. It covers all the critical questions I had as I embarked on my narrative inquiry research: - the issue of neutrality of the researcher as they conduct interviews - how to analyse a narration - by themes across the interviews or on a case by case basis. I learned so much from reading this text.

As an EdD student at the University of Strathclyde, this book was recommended to me by my tutors. I work in Higher Education and wanted a good textbook to help me plan my research. This book is outstanding. It explains to the reader all the aspects a researcher needs to consider when embarking on any form of qualitative research. Yes, many of the examples are from the education sector but any social science researcher would benefit from reading this book. The chapters in this book will act as my template for how I will set out my own dissertation chapters and sub-topics.
