Excellent who dunnit murder mystery with a great ensemble cast. Whilst Christian Bale does a great turn as Augustus Landor, Harry Melling’s performance as Edgar Allan Poe was just brilliant. A great twist at the end (which I hadn’t seen coming at all), and the final meeting between Landor and Poe I found particularly moving. I’ve edited to comment on other observations on the film’s lighting (particularly in the tavern). I didn’t find it too dark at all. In fact I hadn’t even particularly registered it whilst watching the film. I loved this film.

I love this film. Compelling, romantic and a real tear jerker.
