There is a trap that too many writers and filmmakers and storytellers fall into...
Forcing your characters to over explain your world.
After one episode, I was really happy Watchmen didn't do this.
Its drops you into a fully established story. A story that's already been going for.. Almost 100 years.
It doesn't bother all that much with having characters monologue about the world they live in and even (hilariously) actively stops its main character from falling into the trap with one hush from a scared teacher.
As if the events that made this place should not be talked about because they are too awful to bare.
Watchmens characters don't seem to have too much time to expound on their history because they are solely focused on trying to survive right now.
They are already at a point of: Who cares why. This is just the way things are.
Essentially telling the audience:
We're busy.... You figure it out.
