I am a keen watcher of this programme. It's good entertainment. Beautiful voices, superb renditions, great orchestration and stagecraft. Yet I wd crave for more of (at least 40%) Hindustani classical song. That is what it lacks every time. And we must have guest judges like Jatinji, Hariharanji and Uditnarayanji. They make so much difference, qualitatively.
Another idea. Pl have a month-long session, every year, of a high quality classical musical program (like the Dover Lane conference held in Kolkata every year) where the best vocal artistes of the country would participate (including selected winners of the yearly saregamapa). This would give the present generation a great exposure to the musical heritage of our country. You can name it Zee Saregamapa Heritage India. It should showcase major Ragas and major Gharanas. There should be a devoted anchor to tell about the nuances of sangeet and the related anecdotes on the gharanas. This may not be a TRP booster, but would add to the esteem value of ZeeBangla.
