If you've ever found yourself watching an episode of Black Mirror and thought: "this is riveting stuff, I wish they'd drag this out into a soap opera" then you'll enjoy severance. Slow pace and an unwillingness to address glaring questions leave you ample time to pick apart the premise until its lost all effect.

I feel indifferent toward this movie. I seldom write reviews when I'm indifferent. Someone else highlighted a tension between Driver (the bus driver) and his partner. I found this bit compelling and quite nuanced. Everything else felt bland and cliche. It did make me feel at times, it wasn't all bad. The premise was stronger than its execution - a peculiar problem for a movie about receptivity.

The constant use of Deus Ex Machinas made me think this movie was satirical - it is in this assumption that its worth 2 stars. If the action scenes were more compelling the movie may have been more compelling. The ending was garbage; it should have ended with the protagonist succeeding on her god given access to plot armor.
