I really enjoyed the 2009 reimagining of the horror icon Jason voorhees. He runs(again), he hunts, he's fierce. I think the filmmakers loved the original series and it shows. They do a good job of tying the first four films together into one updated storyline for a younger audience and for fans of the original series. There's lots of nods sprinkled throughout but they're very subtle. The opening scene is obviously inspired by the original film while the first group of kills with the cloth mask is inspired by part 2. Jason gets his iconic hockey mask like in part 3 and an outsider is looking for his missing sister just like in Friday the 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter. My only complaints is that I found the first group of the film much more enjoyable than the second group of kids and the dark cinematography throughout makes it hard to enjoy some of the scenes. It's still an awesome addition to the franchise. The kills are great, the gore is top notch and most importantly, this feels like a Friday the 13th film!
