Blink has been one of my favorite bands since I was probably 10yrs old(37 now) and I've been playing in bands just as long and don't get me wrong, I went through the same phase that a lot of dumb high school punks go through and thought that they were "sellouts." I can't express how wrong I was for that thought. Granted that phase did not last long and I'm glad it didn't.
Upon reading this book it's plain to see that they did things the same way that any bright eyed young punks would have. Writing songs with your best friends in a dingey, stinky room, playing shows at local clubs, working their butts off to get their tracks played on the radio and getting on a label and being completely money broke along the way.
Until they weren't, and who can blame them for that? They get to do what they love for a living for the rest of their lives and influence generations to come and feed their children while doing so. That really is the dream.
With aaaaaaaaall of that said, this book was so incredible and enlightening to everything they've been through as people, friends and as a band. I laughed(a lot), I related to Mark's struggles with mental health and everything along the way, and I cried(also a fair bit😅). I just finished it last night and I can't tell you enough that, if you are reading this and you like Blink, you should read this book. 100% worth my money and my time.
Thank you, Mark(and Dan Ozzi).
