I had low expectations going into this film and somehow, it still disappointed. It makes the kissing booth look amazing. This is your typical romance: boy meets girl, boy and girl get closer, girl does something to upset boy, they drift away and then magically end up together and all is great at the end. Tanner deserved a better lead actress, if you want to call Addisons performance acting. It was obvious that she either didn’t audition or they just wanted her for attention she would bring. The main character seems to be built around her tik tok career, so it’s questionable as to if she was even acting. This whole movie feels like it was based off tik tok. The cringey dances, the lives, some of the cast. There are ways to modernise movies but this was just embarrassing. The script is weak and there’s not really any development. Cameron makes choices that seem out of character. He takes back Padgett even though she was only with him for a bet, he let himself be vulnerable around her and when she broke that trust, he took her back. It doesn’t make sense. Aside from that, the whole movie just seems like a big ad and takes away from the charm and nostalgia of the original. The fact that it’s a remake, and we see only one of the original cast members for about 3 minutes is bizarre. The audience is supposed to be people who watched the original, so it would make sense to have familiar faces, that’s what will make people watch it. It was boring and unpredictable, none of that 90s charm. 1/5
