If you judge it as part of the Blade Runner franchise, it's kinda disappointing. While they totally nailed the visuals and aesthetics, the direction and tone is weird and doesn't feel Blade Runner. It feels like a standalone cyberpunk anime that feels more in line with Ghost In The Shell. Gone are the slow pondering thought provoking moments you'll get in Blade Runner and it's instead replaced by quick exposition to move the plot forward. The action scenes are top notched and exciting to watch but they feel out of place because the action scenes plays out like something from an action anime or John Wick with exaggerated moves and stylish acrobatics. Yeah that's right, this one's got them. The main character's got a cool Katana and she even did that classic anime sheathe where she sheathes her sword and the bad guy drops dead. It's cool to watch but man that made me raise my brow because something like this don't belong in Blade Runner.
Anyways, if you judge it as something not related to Blade Runner. It's actually quite decent. The main character is actually quite interesting and compelling, not to mention, cute and adorable but also deadly. She reminds me of Alita and Motoko Kusanagi. In fact, she's almost like the two characters combined. The plot is also quite engaging and other side characters are very good. They even got Doc Badger from BR2049 but he's younger here. To sum it up, Blade Runner Black Lotus is kind of a mixed bag. It's a flawed decent anime with good intentions but usually struggling to stay afloat.
