Riz Ahmed gives a commanding performance as a drummer for a heavy metal band who loses his hearing. The sound editing was so spot on that at times I felt like I was loosing my hearing and it created an audible story as he goes through a series of changes in his hearing. It also brought attention to the rift among the deaf community about cochlear implants. Many deaf advocates believe that cochlear implants are wrong and view their deafness as a gift. I found Sound of Metal refreshing, as I am so tired of films with the same plots only different characters and familiar endings.

I couldn’t stop watching this series. Mark Ruffalo portrayal of identical twins was perfection. The storyline was unique and thought provoking and at times I so totally connected to the characters , that it seemed like reality. This is a film about redemption and that all of us have something to atone for and that realization of this is the way to peace.This was a beautiful film to honor Scott Ruffalo’s memory
