four cats

After the first 5 or 6 episodes, it just wandered off into the weeds and got so boring that I began falling asleep while watching. It's a typical TV series where after a certain point, character development and plot start to collapse into soap opera and prime time G-rated monotony.

Season 2 crawls along and bores me into falling asleep.

A lot of fun to watch, a well-acted and fast paced plot held my interest. Ray Liotta and John Cusack play former cops, a role they're very good at. Everybody stranded at the motel in the storm seems to be hiding a secret, and one of them is responsible for the severed head found in the laundromat. Give this one a chance because it's whodunit fun.

The dialogue is a mess. The expression "i can't wrap my head around it" was not used until the 21st century. It's lurid trash.

Unpleasant and ugly, like the book.

A sequel that fails spectacularly to live up to the excellence of the original, its thin plot lacks character development and depends too much on gross-outs and needless pop-idol production pieces. The original film was engrossing, but the sequel was just gross and sickening.

The story was interesting enough, but character development isn't great, and it left a lot of questions unanswered as to the Buckley family's history and why their hostility towards one another were left largely unexplained. Perhaps it's due to the writers attempting to cram a lot of story into only eight episodes. I gave the series a thumbs-down on Netflix because when it ended, the writers chose to give everybody a "happily ever after" which didn't fit the story line at all.

I liked the first 2 seasons because they were more in tune with the book. But when June becomes an action series star, and the writers put her in ludicrous situations and give her a boyfriend while her husband in Canada searches for her, I began disliking her and growing impatient with the story. Why does June seem to be like a cat with 9 lives? She escapes near-death situations time after time, including bombs dropped from fighter planes. And at one point she is on a ship to Canada only to try to steal a lifeboat and return to Gilead to find her daughter, even after being told she would be killed while her daughter watches. By halfway through season 3, the plot becomes far-fetched and June becomes an arrogant bigmouth who got on my nerves. In series 5 she seems to think she is entitled to have everyone around her do her bidding. Most ridiculous scene is where she walks down the middle of the street even when she sees a pickup truck barreling toward her, and of course she gets hit. The story seems to be about her daring pursuits and les and less dystopian.

Not terribly compelling or original. It looks like the filmmaker tried too hard to be arty. Looks like a rather obvious Keogh family project.
