Sadly, it's a dreadful movie. I waited weeks and weeks to see it, finally carving out some time in the evening hours to sit back, purchase it for an event and absorb the film. It's terrible.
As the viewer, you have no earthly clue what the movie is about. It doesn't relate to a specific part of his life. It doesn't focus on a specific part of his music (the 5th, the 9th, the 7th, Eroica....), nothing.
You simply see glimpses of his childhood, his tutoring, his abusive father, his tutoring from Neefe, his meeting with Haydn and Mozart....but for NO reason.
There is no story. There is no objective. There is nothing that grips you. It's a terrible film...and I want to make this clear - I TRULY TRULY WANTED TO LOVE IT.
