Too many monologues. Denzel made a movie that seemed to follow the template of "Fences". The only problem is "Fences" is a famous play. This movie is not. So, the monologues come off as scripted, unrealistic bloviations. The main characters are all characters I've seen in dozens of movies before. Kudos to the well played band members, however, the rest was..... meh....
