Mark Kirby – Google

This was a great film. The stylistic emphasis of long takes and focus on faces, body language and t setting - everything from the comparatively slow pace of everyday life, with emphasis on rituals and simple amusements to the homes and their close proximity and relationship to nature - was refreshing. It reminded of Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon with the painting like quality of scenes, particularly the use of natural candlelight and torches. All in all a masterpiece of cinema, so welcome in the era where, visually speaking, films adhere to a television aesthetic.

This is a great document of the best of the jazz meets rock meets concert style music. There is proton electronica, jazz improvisation, Afro-beat, and rock elements. The pieces take the listener on a journey, with exciting roads and stops along the way, not the meandering of the Grateful Dead or Phish-head bands. Really interesting, grooving, rocks, and percussion heavy, with wailing horns and psychedelic electronics. My idea of music to trip by.

This is incredible. Sorry Bill Maher but this comic book tee vee show rises to the height of classic literature. What this show illustrates is that we are in the midst of a streaming / movie / episodic tee vee/ new media Black Renaissance. This show, and to a lesser degree, Luke Cage and Black Lightning, are bringing to life some intense moments in American history, encapsulating and expanding on the spirit of the original story by Alan Moore. Regina King is has the charisma of Steve McQueen, the actor not the director (okay boomer) or for you young folks, Michael B. Jordan. She is also uber beautiful and has a realistic, mom-next-door smoldering sexual attractiveness. One of the best shows on now and one of the "blackest" shows. It's a bit uncomfortable for most people but culturally speaking, we have to look the issues the show brings up, in the eye. Or else.
